As a Healthcare Assistants (HCA) or Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW), you work under the supervision and guidance of registered nurses and other professionals. Attend to the needs of patients, monitor and record changes in their conditions, and generally assist in the planning and delivery of care across a wide range of specialisms, including:

Do you want to help bring new life into the world?

You can work as a Healthcare Assistant in the maternity ward, helping registered midwives to support expecting mothers throughout their pregnancy, and assist in the delivery of newborn babies.

Attend to the personal needs of patients and their loved ones
Monitor and record the condition and progress of mother and baby
Assist in a range of procedures and tests

Do you want to work with children?

If you have a keen interest in working with disadvantaged or vulnerable children, you can work as a Healthcare Assistant or Support Worker in the Paediatric Ward.

Assist healthcare professionals in the care of young patients
Engage with and support children with long-term health needs
Monitor and record the condition and progress of patients

Do you want to help people live better lives?
